Baosteel Guangdong Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Base Project is a dry 10,000-ton steel base built by Baosteel Investment and in accordance with the principle of one-step implementation and step-by-step implementation. The project construction scale is: annual output of 8.23 million tons of molten iron, 8.928 million tons of molten steel, 9.44 million tons of steel (including 1550mm cold rolling), the main varieties include hot-rolled sheet, hot-rolled pickling sheet, cold-rolled sheet, hot-dip galvanized sheet, Electrical steel and wide and thick plates, etc., as well as the production capacity of hot-rolled ultra-high strength steel. The project targets South China and radiates to Southeast Asia to meet the demand for high-end carbon steel sheet products in the target market.
The project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission on May 24, 2012, and officially started on May 31, 2012. It is planned to be fully put into operation in September 2016. The project is located in the east island of Zhanjiang City, covering an area of 12.58km2. Zhanjiang belongs to the strong minefield. Frequent thunderstorms, Baosteel project pre-designed to fully consider this factor, requiring lightning protection measures to be considered in the video surveillance of the plant. There are a total of 270 outdoor cameras in the Baosteel factory. Each camera is equipped with a Kiloamp technology power network two-in-one lightning protection device to ensure that the camera can operate normally during the thunderstorm season.
